12 February is Niilakantha Divas. On this day in 1973 Shrii Shrii Anandamurti was poisoned in prison by the jail doctor, acting on orders from the prime minister of India. Baba instructed us to celebrate the fact that he survived, rather than focus on the negative that he suffered due to the poisoning. The dose would have killed anyone else. After being refused a judicial hearing on the poisoning, Baba took to fasting on a glass of curd water a day for an incredible 5 years, 4 months and 2 days until his eventual release in early August 1978.
